A Game of Millimeters

A proper bike fitting can easily be the difference between an enjoyable day in the saddle, and a trip to the chiropractor. For competitive athletes, it can make or break a race.

Ron brings over a decade of experience to the art and science of bike fitting. Having placed over 1,000 cyclists on the trainer for an assessment, he's dialed in athletes of all levels including from novice to professional triathletes, national champions, Tour de France stage winners, and world champions.

Ron has trained extensively in bike fit, including Specialized Masters BG Fit Program.

Ron's Fit Philosophy

The goal is to match the bike to the rider.  You as a rider are who you are; we are not going to change that.  First your basic physiology.  Long legs, short torso (common among women)?  The bike should match, with special consideration being paid to the stem length and height.  Extremely flexible?  Excellent, make use of that flexibility.  How about your feet?  Perhaps you have high arches or maybe foot discomfort while riding?  Matching the shoes to your feet with orthotics and wedges improves how your knees track as well as comfort.

The Process

A great deal of time is spent during the fit figuring out what your body wants to do naturally, then matching the bike to whatever that happens to be.  After this core has been established, the other variables are layered in such as age, riding style, duration and environmental factors.

When you come in for a fitting, act as if you are headed out for ride. Be sure to bring your bike, helmet, cleats, shorts and jersey, and any additional parts for sizing consideration (saddles, handlebars, etc.).
